Understanding Engine Connecting Rods

In an engine, the connecting rods, often called rods, connect the crankshaft on one end and the piston on the other. These engine connecting rods come in two pieces and separate at the crankshaft or big end. Combustion of the air/fuel mixture pushes the piston downward. The piston transfers this force through the rod into the crankshaft , causing the crankshaft to turn.
