The EX90 has had some problems of its own with buggy software, which Volvo says has also contributed to its financial problems. Many EVs are capable of over-the-air software updates, and some of their features can be dependent upon a monthly or annual subscription model, either of which could become outdated or no-longer supported by the manufacturer. The same goes for new EVs though, so this issue isnt isolated to used or high-mileage EVs.

Unfortunately, that doesnt change with the brands latest software update, but Rivian hopes integrating native Google Maps functionality will calm the cries for smartphone integration. Software is at the center of the experience we provide to customers, and data is at the center of what enables software to run well.

Unfortunately for those looking to dodge tariffs, though, the Trax is manufactured in China and South Korea. I havent heard of any issues past the initial software recall. Manufactured" is in the eye of the beholder, but assembled, certainly.👍 A win for American manufacturing, if not for American nameplates.

Manufacturers will still be allowed full control of manufacturing and deploying their own rear power units, motor controllers, gear reduction boxes, rear suspension, and software, as has been the case for a handful of seasons now.
