WHICH IS BETTER AND WHY? Friction in your engine is bad. It’s what causes wear and damage to the metal components of your engine. To prevent this, we use engine oil. Engine oil is designed to create a boundary layer between smooth metal surfaces in order to prevent friction. A lot of independent testers are using a bearing test to determine the best oil for an engine, however, this sort of test does not replicate the frictions in your engine.

THE SYSTEM LAMBORGHINI CLAIMS YOU DON’T NEED TO MAINTAIN The Haldex system is used in AWD cars to couple the front differential to the transmission. (the front in all cars?). It’s used in many cars including Audis, VWs, Fords, Lamborghini Aventadors, and even the Bugatti Chiron. Today, though, we’re going to be discussing the Lamborghini Aventador. I’ve replaced a number of these filters and believe me, they get filthy.

THE LIFETIME PART THAT DOESN’T LAST A LIFETIME It’s something I see all the time. A client brings their car in because the brakes are squealing. We all hate that sound, and how embarrassing for your quarter million dollar car that creates such amazing engine and exhaust tones to sound like nails on a chalk board when coming to a stop. For some, this car is their daily driver, and ironically, that’s precisely the reason this squeal is happening.

A JOB BEST LEFT TO A PROFESSIONAL This job is not for the faint of heart. It requires lots of tools, lots of time and lots of patience. I recently did a Ferrari service to replace the oil and water pumps on a Ferrari FF. Even with all the tools in my shop, some questionable designs and the tight fitment make this job very difficult and technical. Pumps fail though, and you have to replace them.

This has become a very hot topic for me. It’s not about some little issue that annoys me, this is about a major safety flaw in the brakes of cars that are designed and engineered to reach speeds of 200mph. When it comes to safety, brakes are the single most important feature of your car. Brake failure at any speed can be catastrophic. They need to be reliable.
