Whats your relationship like with your car? Its okay to be honest with yourself. There is no shame in a Shecanics game! I called myself an auto airhead because I didnt treat my car well. I had very toxic relationship with all my cars before my Shecanic days. Do you have a good or toxic relationship with your car? First, lets talk define what makes a good relationship.
Its February, the month of love and friendship! And who better to have a loving friendship with than your car? When I was an auto airhead, I neglected my cars. I had no love for them and didnt appreciate how important they were in my life. I mean, they got me to work, to school, and to Friday night hangouts with friends. Yet, I treated them as an afterthought, avoiding maintenance and repairs, then getting angry when they didnt perform as expected.
Hey Shecanics , friends, and family! We’ve all felt the sting of that dreaded “i” word…inflation. It’s not just groceries that are hitting our wallets harder—everything from medicine to housing, and especially transportation, is more expensive these days. Thinking about going organic with your produce? Maybe next month. Dreaming of buying a house? Might want to start considering a roommate.
I am sharing something important that I came across recently. On February 12, 2024, I received an email from the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce that caught my attention. It was all about how car repair costs are going up, and I think we should all be aware of this, especially if we’re trying to keep our vehicles running smoothly without breaking the bank.

Hey there, Shecanic road tripper! Can you believe it's that time of the year again? Summer's winding down, and school is gearing up. But before we say goodbye to the sunshine, you might be itching for that one last road trip blast or maybe getting your or your college kid's wheels ready for the upcoming semester. Well, guess what? I've got your back!
Lately, I’ve been getting questions from our #sheCANic community and friends wondering if they should buy a device to read the codes set off by the dreaded check engine light. There is so much confusion about the check engine or malfunction indicator light (MIL) that many drivers don’t understand why it is there and how it works. This leads to drivers feeling taken advantage of and powerless.

The last thing I'm thinking about in the morning when I get into my car and head out to work is my catalytic converter (CAT for short). Where am I stopping to get my coffee? Yeah. Will I have time to get gas and still make my 9 am meeting? Sure. An ear-numbing rumbling coming from my car early in the morning? WTF. No coffee needed. If you find yourself in this scenario you likely got “got” by a CAT burglar.
WE MADE IT! Winter 2020-2021 is over and spring is here. Winter is especially hard on cars and this year, in Philly, we had a grand one! Your car is just as ready as you to lets its hair down and go spring/summertime wild after this harsh winter.
Hey sheCANics, friends, and family. If you know me and heard my auto airhead stories, have attended a workshop or read my book, you know how much I emphasis the importance of keeping up with your maintenance and how to avoid costly repairs, janky mechanics, and unexpected breakdowns on your car. I educate drivers on the biggest mistake they make with their car and the most important thing they can do for their car as an owner.

Updated Jan 30th, 2023 We’ve got some cold winter weather coming through, so I wanted to refresh this 9-year-old blog with a common cold weather issue for many vehicle owners. My doors, locks, door handles, windows, wipers, etc are frozen and won’t move. How do I de-ice them? Winter is tough on cars, and the cold-hearted weather always hits us when we least expect it.
Auto Airheads Unite! One of the more frequent questions I get from women about their cars is, “How do I de-fog my windshield?” Auto airhead Patrice has been there. I was driving home from work after a gloomy, rainy day when all my car windows began to fog up. Suddenly I’m in a desperate situation, and I start to panic. I can’t see out the windshield, the wipers aren’t removing the fog, and I’m fumbling around with the Air and Temperature controls.
