Sinclair CC Recognizes Reynolds and Reynolds for Support of Auto Tech Students

Administered through the Sinclair Foundation, the Reynolds and Reynolds Automotive Technology Scholarship is designed to support up to 50 Sinclair Community College students annually.

Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio, and the Sinclair Foundation recognized Reynolds and Reynolds on Oct. 17, 2023, for the company’s commitment to supporting education for automotive technology students.

Reynolds and Reynolds has been a part of the Dayton community, where it is headquartered, for 157 years.

This fall, the Sinclair Community College Automotive Technology Department launched an innovative and transformative partnership with Reynolds, the company said in a press release. Reynolds made a multi-year commitment to meet the needs of students studying automotive technology through an investment in their tools, Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications and programing.

“Reynolds and Reynolds is proud to partner with Sinclair Community College to provide these scholarships to students pursuing careers in the automotive industry,” said Chris Walsh, president of Reynolds and Reynolds. “We believe that investing in education is an investment in the future success of our industry, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact these scholarships will have on the lives and careers of the students who receive them. Dealerships need technicians, and technicians need tools. Our hope is that these funds will help bridge the gap between graduate and employer allowing them to fill vital roles with quality candidates, who have the tools they need to get started quicker and ramp up to speed faster.”

This innovative partnership will ensure that the graduates emerge from Sinclair’s program with the certifications and skillsets to deliver high quality automotive service within the region.

“Sinclair Community College is grateful to Reynolds and Reynolds for its commitment to strengthening our efforts to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the automotive industry and contribute to a highly trained and capable workforce,” added Dr. Steven Johnson, president of Sinclair Community College.

Administered through the Sinclair Foundation, the Reynolds and Reynolds Automotive Technology Scholarship is designed to support up to 50 Sinclair Community College students annually.

The Sinclair Community College Automotive Technology Department is one of the oldest in the nation and currently offers eight degree and certificate programs that provide the state-of-the-art, hands-on education and training students must have to succeed in this growing industry.

“The generous support of Reynolds and Reynolds through this scholarship will change students’ lives and keep them on the path to college and career success,” said Justin Morgan, chair of the Sinclair Community College Automotive Technology Department.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects there will be approximately 67,700 openings for automotive service technicians and mechanics each year through 2032. Over the past five years, nearly 750 Sinclair Community College students have earned Automotive Technology degrees and certificates, wth  95% of graduates finding employment within one month of program completion.
