A video from late last month filmed for a channel called Smiley's Farm just surfaced online, and we're getting confirmation that Corvette E-Rays are also Ferrari killers, exactly like the Z06 siblings.
The Ferrari F8 is a mid-engined sports car (Type F142MFL) manufactured by exotic Italian automaker Ferrari since 2019. It is directly slotted above the Ferrari 488 predecessor, features 2-door Berlinetta and hardtop convertible body styles, and is powered by a 3.9-liter award-winning F154 twin turbo V8 rocking 710 horsepower through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and the rear wheels.

By all accounts, it is a mighty sports car and a dream come true if you own one. However, if you're in America, beware of the all-new, first-ever C8 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray rival because it might smoke you in the classic sprint test from zero to 60 mph (96 kph) with a time of less than 2.5 seconds! At least that's what happened one sunny day last month at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. And, by the way, the feat didn't occur at the track's four-lane quarter-mile dragstrip (called 'The Strip').

By the way, this is all the more impressive since the Ferrari F8 and the brand-new 2024 Chevy Corvette C8 E-Ray (dressed in an inconspicuous Sea Wolf Gray) ducked it out on an unprepped surface. Of course, that could also be key to Corvette's impressive performance since the E-Ray is not only electrified but also equipped with AWD. Consequently, the Chevy simply smoked the crimson Ferrari in front of the awed crowd and nailed a time of 2.488 seconds to 60 mph!

Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the time for the F8, but it was clearly lagging behind. That's an excellent feature throughout just one generation – the Z06 was dubbed at the time of release a genuine 'Ferrari killer' and now its E-Ray sibling, with less power (655 hp versus 670hp) than both the Z06 and the F8, still manages the glorious feat of defeating a Ferrari. Sure, that's a disparate case so far.

It remains to be seen, once Chevrolet starts delivering the 2024 E-Ray to dealerships and more people get to experience its electrifying prowess, how it will deal with Ferraris in the real world and also on prepped surfaces. After that, if everything turns out OK, it's probably time to fight off the hordes of Porsches, McLarens, and other exotic brands.

In the meantime, if you want to buy a Ferrari, know that it will probably set you back at least twice the MSRP of a 2024 E-Ray, which kicks off at almost $105k. That will be $106,595 with destination and other fees for the coupe, while the Convertible is a tad more expensive at $113,595 (also with destination).
