Let's be honest about it: while Google Maps, Waze, and Apple Maps are the world's most popular navigation apps, they aren't everybody's cup of tea. I won't discuss the reasons, but the navigation space has expanded significantly lately, so users can choose from a wide range of alternatives coming with super-advanced features.
MapFactor Navigator is one of the best choices, and thanks to the latest update on iOS, Apple users can enjoy several worthy improvements.

The first and most important change in version 3.1 is the expanded support for real-time traffic information.

If you've never used a navigation app with real-time traffic information, you probably don't know how critical this feature can be for every driver. It makes the road more predictable, letting you know where you will likely encounter traffic jams, and allows the navigation software to look for alternative and faster routes.

With the latest update, Navigator 3.1 expands the feature to Latin America, the Middle East, North and East Asia, South Asia, and Oceania.

Navigator PRO users are also getting expanded map coverage. While the Pro version of the software comes with several worthy upgrades, one of the most notable is the support for truck navigation. Google Maps users have been drooling over truck navigation for years, but Google seems to ignore this request, focusing on standard navigation for passenger vehicles.

Dedicated truck navigation allows users to get custom routes based on vehicle size, cargo dimensions, restrictions, and other essential details specific to large vehicles. The update includes support for 3 new territories in North and East Asia (Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) and 11 countries in the region of South Asia (Brunei, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam).

The second change in this update is the new app icon that'll be used across all MapFactor Navigator apps on iOS and Android. The goal was to achieve a "consistent and recognizable look" for the company's software.

MapFactor uses OpenStreetMaps maps and supports both essential and extra features in the free package. For example, you get voice navigation, 3D navigation, speed limit and camera warnings, CarPlay support (though still in beta), points of interest integration, and offline maps. The offline map integration is particularly important because it allows users to navigate without an Internet connection.

Most apps in the navigation space offer similar capabilities, including Google Maps and, starting in the fall of 2023, Apple Maps.

If you don't mind paying for more advanced capabilities, MapFactor Navigator can also provide you with several extras, including head-up display integration, alternative routes, remote commands, and an ad-free experience across the app. The app works on any iPhone running at least iOS 12, so if your device is up-to-date, you should be able to enjoy the complete experience and also try out the CarPlay beta support.
