After killing the Holdern brand in Australia, General Motors has been selling various products in the Pacific country through its GMSV (General Motors Specialty Vehicles) Division. Now, the automotive giant is getting ready to introduce the 2025 GMC Yukon.
Yes, you read that right: the GMC Yukon is coming to Australia in a right-hand drive configuration. GMSV recently took to social media to share a few images of the new model, accompanied by a few words from GM Australia & New Zealand's Managing Director, Jess Bala, who confirmed that it will launch in the first half of next year.
"The GMC Yukon Denali has been at Premoso for a few months as we start gearing up the remanufacturing process," Bala said. "It's exciting that another vehicle is joining the GMSV lineup – one that features a full complement of eight seats and offers great towing capability. Vehicle development post-remanufacturing is processing extremely well, and we're on track to deliver the new model to customers in first-half of 2025."
The official scoops shared by GMSV on Facebook a couple of days ago show the high-rider with partial camouflage on its front and rear ends. The model has a sizeable grille bedecked with the GMC logo, new headlamps with a fresh daytime running light signature, and a typical back end with a few tweaks. The wheels were also wrapped in the trippy vinyl stickers, suggesting that these are also new, and the company might also expand the color palette.
Details surrounding the powertrain family for Australia are yet unknown, but in the United States, the current one comes with two gasoline and a diesel. The former comprises a pair of V8s, a 5.3L rated at 355 hp and a 6.2L with 420 hp, and the latter brings a 3.0-liter inline-six that steams out 277 horsepower. Reports indicate the gasoline burners will carry over, and the low-revving mill might be replaced with a new one that should pump out 305 hp.
GMC's upcoming Yukon is expected to have a few fresh touches on the inside, too. After all, it is related to the Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, and the bowtie company gave them a 17.7-inch infotainment system and an 11-inch digital instrument cluster. As a result, the 2025 GMC Yukon may also feature these screens alongside other possible novelities. We'd also look forward to revised trim and upholstery and maybe a few other changes.
Besides the United States and Australia, the 2025 GMC Yukon will also arrive in other markets, like New Zealand and China. For now, the GM-owned company is keeping the unveiling date a secret. However, it is expected to premiere over the next few months and go on sale shortly after the grand unveiling as a 2025 model.
