In October 2023 British bike maker Triumph announced it is pulling the plug on the Thruxton model. It marked the end of exactly 60 years of factory-made café racers, and as such it was announced the line would end with a special version of the model.
It is called Thruxton Final Edition, a variant of the most recent incarnation of the motorcycle meant to bid farewell to the model. Powered by the iconic 1200cc Bonneville parallel twin engine in its most powerful incarnation, the bike cranks out 104 hp and 112 Nm of torque.

The special edition is equipped with 17-inch wheels wrapped in Metzeler Racetec RR tires fully adjustable Showa forks up front, and Ohlins suspension gear at the rear.

To set it apart from the stock version of the Thruxton, the Final Edition comes in an exclusive Competition Green paint scheme highlighted by gold lining. It is also being offered with a certificate of authenticity with the bike's VIN number signed by all of the company's higher-ups.

Triumph is offering this motorcycle model in the U.S. for prices that start at $17,995. Only one lucky guy among us has the chance to get one for free, though. All they have to do is donate money to charity or convince friends and strangers to do the same.

Each year for the past decade or so Triumph has seriously backed something called the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride (DGR). That would be a globally coordinated effort to take motorcycle riders out into the street in a bid to raise support for men's mental health and prostate cancer research.

That includes financial support, as one key component of the DGR is giving money in support said goals. And it is the guy, girl, or organization who manages to raise the most money who will be gifted with the free Thruxton Final Edition I mentioned above.

The DGR came to be in 2012 in Sydney, Australia, and has grown since to become a global phenomenon that is the "world's largest charity event for classic and vintage motorcycle enthusiasts."

For 2024 the organizers hope to have at least 1,000 rides organized in cities around the world, and to make that happen Triumph will directly involve its global dealer network.

The 2024 Distinguished Gentleman's Ride takes place on May 19. To get in touch with the organizers and register for the ride you will have to follow this link. Important to note is that there are tens of countries where the ride will be held, including in war-torn Ukraine.

Three years ago Triump tied its name to the DGR until 2027, so expect the following editions of the event to get pretty much the same exposure and gifts from the British bike maker.
