Dyego Sousa's wife reportedly crashed the couple's Ferrari in central Madrid, Spain. The soccer star immediately arrived at the scene to find his sports car totaled. Luckily, Mrs. Sousa walked away unharmed. The following day, she posted stories on social media claiming that it wasn't her driving the Ferrari.
Spanish newspaper El Mundo reported earlier this week that the 40-year-old Brazilian woman was involved in an accident while driving a Ferrari Portofino registered in Deygo Sousa's name. The Spanish publication cited police officers saying that she was driving under the influence of alcohol on the night of the crash.

The soccer player, who is currently playing for the Spanish team Alcorcon, arrived at the scene just minutes later and tried to find out what had happened. He was reportedly on the way to the same destination but in a Mercedes-Benz.

One day after the crash, Sousa's wife, Heidy Vieira, posted stories on Instagram claiming it wasn't her the one that was involved in the accident and thanking everyone for the concern. "Fake news from the media in Spain, Portugal, and Brazil," she accused, saying that a famous couple was actually on board the car on the night of the crash.

However, El Mundo claims that security cameras in the area show it was Heidy Vieira, the soccer player's wife, driving the sports car. The woman reportedly tested positive on the breathalyzer test, with alcohol reaching twice the legal limit admitted in Spain. She is now under investigation.

El Mundo also reported that a friend of Diego's wife was also involved in the incident and tried to pass himself off as the driver. Surveillance cameras, however, tell a different story.

Regardless of the driver, the Ferrari looks totaled. The front end is completely destroyed. The bumper disintegrated in the crash, the hood was badly deformed, and the front fenders were seriously bent. A local tow company took the Ferrari from the crash scene.

The Ferrari Portofino was a $230,000 affair when new. The model is set in motion by a front-mid-mounted 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, mated to either a seven-speed dual-clutch or an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with the latter operating in the range-topping Portofino M. The V8 pumps out 592 horsepower (600 metric horsepower) or 612 horsepower (620 metric horsepower) in the M version.

The Ferrari Portofino can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 kph) in 3.5 seconds and can hit 124 mph (200 kph) in 10.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 199 mph (320 kph).

But in the case of this Portofino, it was before the crash it was involved in Madrid. Right now, its top speed is that of the tow truck that transported it away from the crash scene.
